Context: |
|
Two-sidedness means that a property value (eg: smoothness) differs between the 2 sides of the paper. It occurs to a greater extent on PMs with a fourdrinier wet end, because the drainage elements under the wire preferentially pull out the smallest fibers (fines) and some of any filler present. A property, such as smoothness, may thus be poorer on the side next to the wire (wire side) relative to the other side (top side, felt side). |
