Pronunciation
Subdomain (1st level):  Papermaking
Subdomain (2nd level):  Surface treatments
Subdomain (3rd level):  Coating
Grammatical category:  Complex term
Grammar notes:  Countable
Definition:  Percentage by weight of nonvolatile matter in coating colour.
Definition source:  EN 9
Context:  Changes of machine speed affect coat weight but, as with size presses, speed is not a useful control parameter for economic reasons. Coat weight is controlled partly by the application conditions described in Figure 14.3 and also by the solids content of the coating color. There are limits, however, to the range of solids content which may be used with various coaters, as discussed in Section 14.4.
