Context: |
|
The early approach to pressing was to use 2 plain rolls (ie: nonsuction rolls), and express out the water at the entry to the nip formed between the rolls - like an old-fashioned laundry wringer. This plain press configuration is nowadays used (unfelted) as a smoothing press, but after press rolls of higher dewatering capacity and where the intention is to improve paper smoothness. |
