Definition:  Roll press (either horizontal, vertical or inclined) located between dryer sections in which the paper is given a one or two-sided application of sizing.

Context:  Synthetic drier fabrics carry the web of paper round the cylinders until the paper is completely dry. Part way down the bank of drying cylinders is the size press, where a solution of water and starch can be added in order to improve the surface for printing purposes.
