Context: |
|
Refiners (and beaters) are machines which mechanically modify the structure of pulp fibers in the stock furnish in order to optimize the properties of the paper product. Fibers are modified in a controlled way so that the most critical properties are greatly improved, while other properties are unavoidably worsened. The changes are particularly marked with chemical and semi-chemical pulps. |
