Definition:  Continuous belts of various constructions used to mechanically convey the wet sheet and provide a cushion for the sheet between press rolls, and serve as a medium through which water is removed.

Context:  The press felts have long runs (~ 20 - 40 m) around guide rolls and tension control rolls, and are subjected to cleaning showers (sometimes incorporating detergents) which wash out adhering fibers, fillers and fines transferred in the nip.
