Context: |
|
The selection of a binder system (i.e. a particular combination and addition level of binders) must take into account the resultant rheological properties of the coating color (discussed in Section 14.4) and how these properties affect coater runnability. The choice also depends on relative cost, and how the binder system affects the properties of the paper, which may be produced to suit a particular printing process. Many grades of synthetic and natural binders are available, and various combinations can be optimized for use with particular pigments, base papers and coaters. Therefore, generalizations are not very useful. |
