Definition:  Enclosure most commonly placed around the dryer section of the paper machine to control ventilation and carry away moisture-laden air.

Context:  The dryer section is totally enclosed by a hood on modem machines. The water vapor produced by drying is carried away by hot air supplied to the hood. The vapor laden exhaust air is dueled away from the hood for heat recovery and venting to the atmosphere, as illustrated in Figure 11.5.1.
