Context:  A coating color is prepared in the paper mill by mixing the chemical constituents together according to in house experience and the recommendations of the chemical suppliers. The color must have the correct rheological properties to enable the process employed by the mill to apply a uniform film to the paper surface.The coating should then penetrate and dry in such a way that the coating surface, after a final calendaring operation, is uniform in appearance and in printing properties.
