Rod coaters (bar coaters) use a metering device, developed in the 1940s, that takes the form of either:
- A profiled rod, either in the form of a wire wound rod (see diagram), or a grooved rod. They give good surface fiber coverage.
- A smooth rod, which may be steel or ceramic-coated. |
