Porosity is a measure of a paper’s fractional void volume and is not a particularly informative property in itself. Tests that give additional information are air permeability and oil penetration. Resistances to air flow and oil penetration depend on the number and sizes of pores within the structure and are relevant properties for printing and absorbent tissue grades. |
